Mr. Freeze!

January 21, 2010

I don’t mean to boast about having a really fun job, but sometimes I can’t help it. When I’m on a shoot and somebody hands me a giant gun that shoots dry ice, I have to tell everybody about it!

A local company that uses dry ice as a sandblasting alternative invited us over for a demonstration. After they showed the gun shooting paint off of wood and metal, they offered it to me. Who in their right mind would say no to that? I handed the camera to the reporter and went to work.

Some things you’ll notice:

  • The awesome sound when the ice is sealed in the machine
  • The blurry wide shot (I forgot it was set to manual focus when I handed it to the reporter)
  • The crazy-awesome smoking barrel

The story won’t run in the paper for a while, which means the video I did for work won’t run either. As soon as it’s up I’ll post it, because it will be pretty cool.
