Enhance it! – Part 2

September 20, 2011

Yes, I’m still working on this one!

This weekend we had an awesome shoot at Sloan’s Calzones. The owner, Brent Sloan, was kind enough to open the doors of his business on a Sunday for us to come in with a ton of equipment.

If you’ve never been to Sloan’s, here’s a completely non-solicited plug that I’ve been telling people for a long time- Sloan’s has an awesome slice of pizza, and is the only place in Decatur that I know of where you can just waltz right in and grab a slice of pizza without waiting. And if you go, make sure to try the homemade chips.

This shoot was for a short sequence during the credits. It went really well, and there was some fantastic ad libbing. So much so that we had to do a few retakes because I laughed and shook the camera. Mitch also provided a dolly, so I got to go for a ride too!

I cut it together that night, so everything is pretty much in the bag. There are just a few post-production things to take care of, mostly dealing with After Effects. I’ll be posting it as soon as it’s finished, but until then, here are some photos from this weekend.  Thanks to Adam Casner and my wonderful wife for taking some awesome behind the scenes shots while I was busy.

Enhance it! – Part 1

Another short comedy is starting to come to life!

My alma mater, Millikin University, was nice enough to let me set up lights in a computer lab for “Enhance It!”

Doug made a great Santa. He makes an even better CIA chief...

Tuesday night Alida and I met with Mitch Morrison to set up lights, and set them up we did. Mitch has a great talent when it comes to lighting. Combined with Alida’s eye for composition we were able to get everything ready and blocked out for our shoot on Wednesday night.

When Wednesday rolled around, I was worried the huge storm system that had been hovering over us for 24 hours was going to cancel my shoot. Tornado watches and flash flood warnings didn’t help.

ADM-Scovill Hall in front of a nice angry storm...

Luckily for me, the rain didn’t stop my cast and crew from showing up, ready to go.

Casting Call!

April 22, 2011

Are you the greatest actor of our time? How about the greatest actress of our time? Somebody who is kind of thinking about acting but doesn’t know where to start? Aspiring to be an extra that crosses the street in the background?

Are you in Central Illinois? (Or willing to travel here…)

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, I want you to act in one or more of my 3 short comedies! And I really mean short, each project should only require one day of shooting.
