“21 Film Project” Contest: We’re in!

August 13, 2009

We just got the call that our video, “Pain” made it into the Top 20 in Land of Lincoln Credit Union’s “21 Film Project“!

There is a big shindig planned for August 22nd, with workshops, red carpets, and prize drawings. They cap off the night with a screening of the Top 20, and then give out the awards. I’m so bummed out though, because I won’t be able to make it! Alida and I have a shoot that night, so I’ll  will be anxiously awaiting a call/text/telegraph with the results. Jim Wilkerson, the other half of this endeavor, was also busy, but was able to rearrange his schedule to make it.  He’ll hopefully be able to give me a play-by-play of who wins what.

Here are the award categories:

  1. Best Film
  2. Best Actor/Actress
  3. Best Editing
  4. Best Direction
  5. Best Use of LLCU Logo and Tagline

Wish us luck!!

“21 Film Project” Contest: Part Three

August 3, 2009

Finally!

The deadline for the “21 Film Project” contest has past, meaning I can post our entry now! I technically could have posted it Friday, but one of the actors was out of town. We insisted on being there when he watched it, to see his reaction. Now that he has seen it, I can post it. So here it is, our 2009 entry, “Pain” :

“21 Film Project” Contest

June 10, 2009

Land of Lincoln credit union is holding a film contest with a $1,500 grand prize. It can be about anything you want, as long as it somehow incorporates “Land of Lincoln Credit Union- Bank on Learning More”.Read more here: www.llcu.org

Last year I submitted a rushed entry. It was not my best work, I admit, but I thought it was funny. Besides, it was fun to shoot. Here’s the video:

Here is the video that one the grand prize last year, “The Yellow Car” by Dave Heinzel:

So now I have until July 31st to come up with an idea and film it. I brainstormed with Jay from TroupeDynamic after our workshop tonight, but I assume that whatever we shoot would be a Troupe entry, so I still plan on doing something solo. I came up with an idea the other day and sketched it out real quick, but immediately realized that, as funny as I thought it was, it would never be excepted into the contest, let alone place. Here is the sketch:

Delivering a loan...

Getting a loan shouldn't be this hard

As you can see, the idea is a bit creepy. So now I plan to use this idea to film my own version of “Rejected Cartoons” by Don Hertzfeldt.

Is anybody else planning on entering this contest? Good luck to those of you who are!
